How to Choose A Double Direction Tapered Roller Thrust Bearing

Tapered roller thrust bearing can bear a two-way axial load. It has a much larger axial load capacity than thrust ball bearings and has high rigidity and small axial space. It is suitable for occasions with low speed. And people use them for the axial positioning of the rolls of the rolling mill to withstand the bidirectional axial load.

Structure

This kind of bearing has two kinds of structures: a spacer ring to adjust the axial clearance and a spring or other pre-compressed structure without a spacer ring. Bidirectional double row thrust tapered roller bearings mostly use steel or copper cages. Bidirectional double-row thrust tapered roller bearings do not allow the shaft to tilt with the axis of the housing. Larger angular alignment errors will generate additional stress and shorten the service life of the bearing.

Bidirectional thrust tapered roller bearing bears centrifugal torque during operation. So the relative sliding occurs between the rolling elements and raceways, causing the shaft and race to separate. To ensure the normal operation of the bearing, it must apply a certain axial load.

They can bear axial loads from two directions, suitable for high-load occasions, and have high axial rigidity. Use a steel alloy car cage. Bidirectional double-row thrust cylindrical roller bearings do not allow the shaft incline with the axis of the housing. Larger angular alignment errors will generate additional stress and shorten the service life of the bearing. When the bidirectional double row thrust cylindrical roller bearing is in operation, the rolling elements are affected by the centrifugal torque, and relative sliding occurs between the rolling elements and the raceway, which will cause the shaft ring and the seat ring to separate. Therefore, in order to ensure the normal operation of the bearing, it must apply a certain axial load.

Double Direction Tapered Roller Thrust Bearing Application

Thrust spherical roller bearings have a large axial load capacity. Therefore, while bearing axial loads, they can also bear a certain degree of radial load, but they are not suitable for high-speed operation. The raceway surface of the seat ring is spherical in shape, with self-aligning performance. When the shaft is slightly inclined, the load can still be evenly distributed and rotate normally. People widely use this type of bearing in heavy machinery such as rolling mills, heavy machine tools, oil drilling rigs, large vertical motors for ships, and combined road headers.
